AutoNation is seeking a Sr. Manager, Marketing Technology to lead the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for their MarTech ecosystem. This role involves managing a team of marketing technologists to ensure platforms and integrations support customer experience, lifecycle engagement, and personalization goals. The manager will oversee vendor selection, establish governance, and partner with Technology and Data teams on architecture and integrations. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience in marketing technology or digital platforms within complex enterprises, with 2-5 years of leadership experience. Automotive industry experience is preferred. This is a hybrid role with competitive compensation.
Responsibilities:
Lead the product vision, architecture, and roadmap for the marketing technology ecosystem, ensuring platforms and integrations support current and future customer experience strategy.
Manage and mentor a small team of marketing technologists and platform specialists.
Prioritize overall MarTech initiatives for the team, balancing strategic intent, platform constraints, technical debt, and delivery capacity.
Maintain a working knowledge of the marketing technology discipline, educating the team on updated and improved capabilities of both current partners and key vendors in the space.
Oversee the team’s translation of product strategy and lifecycle priorities into required MarTech capabilities, ensuring the correct gaps, dependencies, and the sequencing of needs across the tech stack is reflected correctly.
Partner with Technology and Data team leads to define scalable, secure, and compliant platform architecture, integrations and data flows.
Develop and lead the process for evaluation and selection of MarTech vendors and platforms, including defining requirements, tradeoff analysis, and roadmap alignment.
Establish governance, standards, and guardrails for MarTech usage to enable speed and consistency while managing risk and complexity.
Define and track success metrics such as adoption, capability, utilization, and enablement of priority use cases.
Communicate MarTech direction, constraints, and progress clearly to team leaders across Product Strategy, Marketing, Technology, and other senior stakeholders.
Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in management of marketing technology, digital platforms, or related roles within complex enterprise environments.
2-5 years of leadership or team management experience.
2-3 years in automotive (OEM, large dealer group, ad agency, or data partner) preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
Proven ability to supervise, grow, and foster talent within a team.
Demonstrated experience owning and managing MarTech platforms including CDP, DAM, marketing automation, personalization, analytics, or related capabilities.
Able to define platform roadmaps and architectures that enable strategic use cases rather than optimizing individual tools in isolation.
Experience facilitating relationships with Technology and Data teams on architecture, integration, privacy, and scalability considerations.
Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution in a fast-moving environment.
Experience leading projects with vendors and external partners, including platform evaluation, roadmap alignment, and ongoing relationship management.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical constraints and opportunities to non-technical stakeholders.
