Role summary
BIS Safety Software is seeking a QA Analyst to join their growing team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. This onsite role focuses on manual and exploratory testing for their SaaS platform, requiring candidates to go beyond scripted tests to find issues. Responsibilities include designing test cases, documenting defects, maintaining automated test suites, and leveraging AI tools as a partner for drafting plans, finding edge cases, and improving workflows. The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of QA experience, a strong understanding of manual testing principles, API testing, bug tracking tools, and practical use of AI in testing.
BIS Safety Software is a SaaS company on a mission to change how organizations manage safety, learning, and compliance, and the team behind that mission matters just as much as the product. As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our QA team and adding another QA Analyst to help strengthen our testing capabilities.
About the role:In this role, you'll own manual and exploratory testing for new features and releases on the BIS platform. This isn't a follow-the-script, mark-pass-or-fail role. It's about understanding what a feature is supposed to do, stepping off the expected path, and finding the problems nobody thought to write a test case for. You'll write the test plans, design the cases, run and maintain our existing automated suites, and work side by side with developers to get issues reproduced and fixed. You'll use AI tools as an everyday partner to get more done.
This is an onsite role based out of our Sherwood Park, Alberta office.
In this role, you will be expected to:
You might be the right fit if you:
- Hunt for what could break, treating every feature as something to question rather than something to confirm
- Write defect reports that are precise, complete, and impossible to misread
- Prioritize under pressure, weighing business priority and risk
- Treat AI as a partner in your work and keep looking for ways to use it better
- Speak up when something looks off, even if nobody else has noticed
- Take ownership of your work and keep it moving without needing direction on every step
Qualifications we are looking for:
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with TestRail or a similar test case management tool
- Exposure to Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Puppeteer
- Familiarity with Git or other version control
- Some JavaScript or TypeScript
- Mobile testing experience, especially iOS edge cases
