Role summary

BCBST is seeking an Enterprise Architect II for its Strategy and Architecture team. This remote role focuses on shaping the technology architecture for the provider domain, including interactions, contracting, credentialing, and network management. The ideal candidate will evaluate emerging trends, translate business needs into scalable solutions, and possess strong architecture, communication, and payer-provider space experience. Key qualifications include interoperability leadership with HL7/FHIR, API and data streaming expertise, and experience with various database technologies. The role involves providing direction for EA, implementing strategies, guiding architects, managing stakeholder relationships, and developing architecture roadmaps.

We are hiring an Enterprise Architect II on our Strategy and Architecture team at BCBST!

In this role, you will help shape the technology architecture that supports our provider domain, including critical capabilities such as provider interactions, contracting, credentialing, and network management. You’ll evaluate emerging trends in provider network management and translate business needs into scalable architecture and integration solutions.

To be successful in this role, in addition to the core job requirements, you’ll bring strong architecture and communication skills along with experience in the payer-provider space. You will be a strong candidate if you have interoperability leadership experience with HL7 and FHIR, strong integration expertise across APIs and data streaming, and experience with a variety of data storage and retrieval technologies, including GraphQL, graph databases, and other database platforms. Adaptability and the ability to quickly learn new technologies, domains, and assignments will also be important.

Note:

  • This is a remote, work-from-home position, but the final round of interviews will take place on-site in our Chattanooga, TN office.
  • Limited travel is required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of the EA to support the corporate business strategies.
  • Leading in the implementation of EA strategies and best practices to support business objectives, while focusing on business process design, solutions, information gathering and technology utilization.
  • Providing guidance to enterprise architects on defining technical service capabilities, design attributes, draft enterprise profiles and segment architecture; controlling risks and solving complex issues related to EA.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, addresses stakeholder requirements and providing clients consultations to shape the future success of EA.
  • Providing EA support by directing teams in baseline, target and roadmap development, transition planning, system and security management and segment architecture.
  • Build and maintain architecture portfolio translating business strategies into IT investments.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Computer Science or equivalent work experience required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested.

Experience

  • 5 years - Experience as an individual contributor leading a team in the design and implementation of one or more of the following: application and integration, data, technology and/or security architecture required.
