Role summary

The Junior Web Developer is responsible for designing, creating, and modifying web applications to improve organizational efficiencies and user experience. This role involves working closely with IT and business leaders to gather requirements, deliver enhancements, and support the entire application development lifecycle. The developer will learn and implement new technologies, maintain documentation, write sustainable and scalable code, and contribute to testing and project planning. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required, along with a desire to code in various languages and a foundational understanding of UX/UI concepts and OOP principles.

Junior Web Developer

Purpose
: The Junior Web Developer is responsible for designing, creating, and modifying web applications used throughout the organization. This individual will work closely with IT and business leaders to deliver enhancements and improve efficiencies and the overall user experience.

Reports To
: Software Architect

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with leadership and end users on application requirements, testing, and delivery of applications.
  • Learn, train and implement new end-user experiences using various technologies.
  • Stay abreast with concepts and best practices for application design.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation to support developed technologies.
  • Write code that is both sustainable and scalable.
  • Lead and perform application testing exercises both individually and as part of a group.
  • Contribute to the development of project schedules and workflows.
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to applications.
  • Research UI/UX trends and integrate concept into applications.
  • Support the entire application development lifecycle.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
  • Desire to learn and write code in JAVA, JS, CSS, JQUERY, XML, JSON, COLDFUSION, and SQL languages.
  • Basic knowledge of UX and UI concepts with understanding that goal is become highly skilled at UX/UI design in web applications.
  • Familiarity with OOP design principles.
  • Familiarity of IT security concepts and/or ability to learn integrating them into application technologies.
  • Ability to work well with various personality types.
  • Creative and innovative approach to solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong problem-solving mentality.
