Role summary

Diane Frankling Housing Co-op seeks a full-time, 2-month contract Web Developer to maintain and enhance their in-house housing database program. Responsibilities include designing and developing new features, updating existing modules, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with PIPEDA regulations. The role requires proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with a strong understanding of security principles. Experience with WordPress, theming, and module development is preferred. The developer will also be responsible for creating documentation and supporting co-op staff. This is an onsite position requiring 35 hours per week.

Job description

Full-time, 2-month contract programmer position, starting as soon as possible.Hours of work are Monday through Friday, at 35 hours per week.

Primary Function:

Diane Frankling Housing Co-op is looking for a web programmer to maintain and improve our housing database program – created in-house. The programmer will be responsible for the design and development of new features & modules, updating current aspects of the program, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise in the housing software program. Throughout the design process, the programmer will be responsible for ensuring that the program meets all Canadian and provincial government standards with regard to protecting personal electronic information from unauthorized access (PIPEDA).

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • design user interface and web layout using HTML/CSS (front-end)
  • develop and maintain clean, efficient, secure, and well-engineered back-end code that conforms with accepted standards
  • assist in troubleshooting any problems and maintain proper usage documentation of the housing software program
  • co-ordinate code deployments, maintenance upgrades, and project testing across numerous environments in various technology platforms.
  • create all programming documentation
  • support and train co-op staff in using the housing software program

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate in computer science or related field (would be an asset)
  • proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, & JavaScript is a requirement
  • profile of previously completed projects
  • mobile app development experience would be a great asset
  • experience working with and designing user interface using HTML/CSS practices
  • WordPress, theming, and module development experience
  • strong grasp of security principles and how to apply/ enforce them in practice
  • enthusiasm for working with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • self-directed and works with minimal supervision
  • decisive and produces quality work in short time-frames
  • strong written and oral communication skills
