Executive Assistant to the CTO

Help reinvent how housing gets designed, permitted, and built in America.

Cedar is building the operating system for urban housing delivery. We combine architectural expertise with software, automation, and data systems to dramatically accelerate how projects move from land acquisition to approved designs and construction. The result: faster timelines, higher quality, lower risk, and more housing in the cities that need it most.

Our team blends architects, engineers, and product builders. We design beautiful, responsive housing, and we build the software systems that make great architecture scalable.

The Role

We’re looking for an Executive Assistant to support our CTO and help keep our engineering team organized.

Our CTO’s time is best spent on the strategic and technical work only he can do. Right now, too much of it goes to scheduling, inbox management, and chasing follow-ups. You’ll take that off his plate. You’ll keep his calendar running smoothly, ensure he’s prepared for every meeting, and help the engineering team stay on top of meetings, commitments, and follow-ups.

You’ll also support the team's operations by onboarding new hires and handling office logistics, travel, and other administrative needs.

This is a great role for an organized, proactive EA who’s comfortable working alongside engineers and wants to see up close how an early-stage company gets built.

What You’ll Work On

Executive support (~50%)

  • Manage the CTO’s calendar: scheduling, rescheduling, and protecting focus time

  • Triage his inbox and flag what needs his attention

  • Prepare agendas and materials for meetings, take notes, and track follow-ups

  • Handle travel, expenses, and logistics

Engineering team support (~30%)

  • Schedule and organize recurring team meetings: sprint planning, retros, 1:1s, and performance reviews

  • Take notes, capture decisions, and share them with the team

  • Track open action items and follow up with owners to keep them moving

  • Keep incoming requests organized so nothing gets lost in DMs

Recruiting and office operations (~20%)

  • Help onboard new hires: equipment, accounts, and first-week logistics

  • Manage office supplies, vendors, and space needs

  • Plan team events

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years as an executive assistant or in a similar administrative role, ideally supporting a senior leader

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a habit of writing things down

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Discretion with confidential information

  • Comfortable with Google Workspace, Slack, and project tools like Linear (or quick to learn them)

  • Comfortable using AI tools in your day-to-day work

  • Proactive and persistent: you follow up without being asked

  • Enjoys a fast-moving startup environment

Location

Encinitas, CA (San Diego County), in-office 4 days/week. Reports to the CTO.
