Role summary

Centene is seeking an AI Software Developer Intern for Summer 2027 to contribute to projects within the Managed Care industry. The intern will research and apply AI agents across the software development lifecycle, build AI-supported dashboards and developer portals by analyzing data from development tools, and generate project artifacts like JIRA stories and implementation plans. Responsibilities also include creating training materials, supporting AI-enabled development practices, and exploring emerging technologies. This role requires enrollment in an undergraduate program and authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. The internship offers a pay range of $18-26/hour and the opportunity to make a real impact on healthcare accessibility.

Position Purpose: Learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Sponsorship and future sponsorship are not available for this opportunity, including employment-based visa types H-1B, L-1, O-1, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, or CPT.

Job Duties:

  • Research and apply AI agents across specifications, coding, implementation, documentation, and delivery
  • Build AI-supported dashboards and integrated developer-portal capabilities by identifying, connecting, analyzing, and visualizing near-real-time data from development tools
  • Analyze and generate specifications, JIRA stories, acceptance criteria, project layouts, implementation plans, and other automated project artifacts
  • Create training and documentation, support adoption of AI-enabled development practices and explore emerging technologies
  • Learn various job functions within assigned department
  • Perform various tasks and project-based work
  • Attend training and development presentations to enhance professional competencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with all policies and standards

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college, preferably in a field related to the hiring department through the internship period.

Pay Range: $18-26/hour
