Role summary
Charge Robotics, a Series A startup building robots for solar farm construction, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer. This role involves designing, implementing, and validating electrical systems for robotic factories, including power distribution, control circuits, and signal conditioning. Responsibilities include component selection (motors, sensors, PLCs), creating schematics and wiring diagrams, troubleshooting issues, and scaling systems for manufacturing. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in power systems, control systems, industrial automation, electrical design CAD, and component integration, preferably within a fast-paced startup environment. Experience with high-power systems, motion control, industrial robotics, and Python for automation is a plus.
About Charge Robotics:
Charge Robotics is a Series A startup building robots that build solar farms.
Demand for new solar projects is booming (1 ⁄ 5 of all the solar that exists in the US was installed last year!), but today’s construction companies can’t keep up due to limited labor resources.
We thought this was insane, so we started working on robots to directly address this bottleneck and speed up the world’s transition to renewables.
Charge is a fast-moving company, which means constant opportunities for learning and growth. You’ll have a large impact on the direction of our company, and will be compensated accordingly.
We’re MIT-founded and backed by top generalist and climate tech investors, including Lux Capital and Y Combinator (S21).
If you’re excited to work on interesting problems with direct climate impact, you’re going to fit right in! Read more about Charge at the links below:

About the role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Charge Robotics, you'll be designing and implementing the electrical systems that power our robotic factory, playing a direct role in deploying gigawatts of clean power generation.
What you'll be working on:
Designing, testing, and validating electrical systems including power distribution, control circuits, and signal conditioning for our robotic factory
Selecting and integrating motors, sensors, actuators, PLCs, and other electrical/electronic components to meet system requirements for reliability and performance
Creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness designs while establishing standards for electrical documentation and best practices
Troubleshooting electrical issues in factory and field deployments, working closely with mechanical and software teams to ensure seamless system integration
Scaling electrical systems from design to manufacturing and deployment
You:
Have strong experience in electrical engineering with hands-on skills in power systems, control systems, and industrial automation
Can read and create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams, and are proficient with CAD tools for electrical design
Have experience specifying and integrating electrical components (motors, drives, sensors, relays, PLCs) and understand electrical codes and safety standards
Have worked in a fast-paced startup environment before, and loved it
Are excited to work with (and occasionally safely climb into) giant robots
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Are based in or can relocate to the SF Bay Area, and able to work 4-5 days/week from our San Leandro HQ
Gain satisfaction from personally playing a part in mitigating climate change
Are excited to see your work deployed onto actual solar farms!
It'd also be nice if you:
Have experience with high-power electrical systems, motion control, or industrial robotics
Have a 4-year degree in electrical engineering or a related field
Are familiar with Python or other programming languages for testing and automation
