Role summary

As an Environmental Services Technician (EVS) at CHI Health, you will ensure a safe and sanitized environment for employees, patients, and visitors. This role involves understanding and executing cleaning and disinfection procedures for various hospital areas, operating cleaning equipment, managing waste and soiled linens, and adhering to all safety and infection control practices. You will also be responsible for identifying and reporting maintenance needs. The position requires attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, reflecting the organization's dedication to community care.

CHI Health Nebraska Heart delivers leading-edge services to Nebraska and northern Kansas. Our network of offices and affiliated hospital-based clinics enables patients to receive timely care close to home. In addition, Nebraska Heart, located in southeast Lincoln, has dramatically reshaped the way in which patients receive care. Nebraska Heart continues to have the largest staff of experienced cardiology and vascular professionals in the area. Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Environmental Services Technician (EVS) at CHI Health, you’ll join a team of EVS techs who prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and visitors by ensuring a safe and sanitized environment for all.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to understand the importance of why and how we sanitize and disinfect different environments. You are in total control of your space- where process and supplies matter. You appreciate the cleanliness of our hospital, and it is a direct reflection of how we care for the people in our community.

We provide you with personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep you safe and while you’re providing that same level of safety to others.

Everyday you will be expected to:

Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures.
Operates manual, battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums. Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe, sanitary manner.
Collects, handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner, Inspects EVS equipment for cleanliness and need for repair.
Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans.
Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices
Identifies and reports work orders for maintenance/refurbishing needs.
