Role summary

We are seeking an Agile Product Owner to manage and prioritize work items, lead sprint planning and demonstrations, and serve as the business requirements expert on an agile team. This role involves translating business and technical requirements into epics, features, and stories, and acting as the day-to-day decision-maker for the agile team. The Product Owner will engage with business partners to source and prioritize requirements, define product needs, and facilitate user acceptance testing. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, with ten years of relevant experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or business operations/product line. Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies is preferred, along with familiarity with tools like Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.

Pay Range:
$70/hr - $80/hr

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages, prioritizes, and assesses the impact of all work items, such as new features, defects, etc., including deciding to create, fix, or defer at the project level.
  • Leads sprint planning and demonstration sessions with technical and business analysts.
  • Serves as the business requirements expert on an agile team, translating business and technical requirements into epics, features, and stories for agile development cycles.
  • Serves as the day-to-day decision maker and provides continual business guidance for an Agile team.
  • Engages with line of business partners to source and prioritize requirements.
  • Defines business requirements for products and programs, prioritizing needs and required features.
  • Facilitates user acceptance testing before the release of application updates.
  • Serves as the content authority on an Agile team by maintaining a prioritized backlog of stories and providing continual business guidance for the execution team.
  • Works with management and other stakeholders to understand and validate business strategy and vision, and customer needs.
  • Creates prioritized stories based on program backlog features and strategic priorities set by business stakeholders.
  • Partners with sponsors, stakeholders, and Information Technology to facilitate, define, and document relevant business processes, gaining an understanding of the needs, measures, and risks and controls for the improvement area.
  • Provides just-in-time story elaboration to designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and others to develop, execute, and release in alignment with program and/or product roadmaps.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, and ten (10) years of relevant experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or business operations/product line.

Preferences:

  • SAFe Practitioner (SP), SAFe Agilist, or SAFe Product Owner/Manager certification.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in Process Engineering methodologies and Change Management practices.
  • Familiarity or working knowledge with multiple technical software delivery methodologies (i.e., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proven ability to utilize data and analytics to formulate. recommendations, solve business problems, and drive business improvements.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
