The role requires 4+ years of accounting experience, proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel, and a strong understanding of GAAP. Experience in construction accounting, SBA lending, or CPA certification is preferred. The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Client Controller who wants to work directly with business owners and grow into a fractional CFO role. You’ll own the financial picture for a portfolio of clients: making sure the books are right, explaining what the numbers mean, and helping owners make better decisions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with our founder and CEO while making a meaningful impact on growing businesses that need strategic financial guidance.

What You’ll Do

  • Review and approve monthly closes prepared by our accounting team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements and KPI reporting to clients
  • Lead recurring financial review meetings with business owners and serve as their trusted point of contact
  • Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Support job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting for construction clients
  • Prepare financial packages for lenders, including SBA loan applications
  • Identify issues in client financials and recommend practical solutions
  • Coordinate with the accounting team to keep client deliverables on schedule
  • Grow into owning client relationships end to end as a fractional CFO

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, including controller, assistant controller, or senior accountant work, or public accounting experience with small business clients
  • Strong command of GAAP, month-end close, and financial statement preparation
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel; Sage and Xero experience preferred
  • Natural ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-accountants
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple clients independently while following structured processes
  • Genuine interest in business strategy and helping companies grow

Nice to Have

  • Construction accounting experience (job costing, WIP, AIA billing, retainage)
  • CPA or progress toward a CPA
  • Experience with SBA lending or lender reporting
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification or SAGE certification

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Direct Mentorship: Work alongside and learn directly from our President, James Delaney, who brings deep experience scaling companies and building them for sustainable growth.
  • A Clear Path to CFO: This role is built to grow. As you take ownership of client relationships and advisory work, you’ll move into a fractional CFO role leading your own engagements
  • Meaningful Impact: Help business owners understand their numbers and make decisions that change the trajectory of their companies
  • Variety: Exposure to a wide range of industries and business models
  • Purpose-Driven Work: Join a B-Corp committed to positive business impact

Position Details

  • Full-time, on-site in Center City Philadelphia
  • $90,000 base salary
  • Health, dental, 401(k), PTO
  • Performance bonus opportunity; with 401(k), total compensation of up to $100,000
