Role summary

The Financial Data Analyst is responsible for supporting smooth financial operations by processing financial data, managing deposits, generating reports, and handling accounts payable. This role involves entering purchase requisitions and travel authorizations into finance systems, processing daily deposits, creating invoices, and managing the department's petty cash. The analyst will also verify vendor compliance, close purchase orders, assist with annual audits, and provide general clerical and front office support. A strong aptitude for computer word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Office, is required, along with 3-5 years of business office experience.

## General Description of the Position

The Financial Data Analyst plays a key role in ensuring smooth financial operations within the Division. This position is responsible for processing purchase requisitions, overseeing daily donation deposits, generating accurate budget balance reports, tracking departmental expenditures, and providing essential clerical support.

## Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Key Responsibilities
1. Enter purchase requisitions, travel authorizations, and other financial data into the Division’s
finance systems.
2. Prepare and process daily deposits remotely and deliver secured deposits to the bank when
necessary.
3. Create and send invoices to funding sources as required.
4. Generate finance reports as needed.
5. Process account payable electronic payments (ACH, direct deposits, etc.).
6. Verify vendor compliance with university policies and procedures through the Department of
Purchasing.
7. Manage the department’s petty cash account.
8. Monitor and close unused purchase orders and “R” numbers annually.
9. Assist with the preparation of the Foundation’s annual audit.
10. Provide coverage for the front office and phones as needed.
11. Offer backup support to the Administrative Secretary and Development Technician when
necessary.
12. Availability of working evenings and weekends as required.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or department head.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate must possess the following skills and abilities to perform essential functions with or
without reasonable accommodation:
1. Substantial interpersonal skills include a cooperative, patient and professional manner.
2. Significant experience and/or aptitude for computer word processing and spread sheet applications,
preferably Microsoft Office.
3. Experience using Financial & Raiser edge a plus.

## Qualification Standards

1. An acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
2. Three to five years of experience in a business office environment, preferably a college or University.
3. Significant experience and/or aptitude for computer word processing and spread sheet applications,
preferably Microsoft Office.
