Role summary
Dollar General is seeking a Checker to verify incoming merchandise accuracy by item, SKU, quantity, and pack against the bill of lading. This role involves preparing goods for storage in the distribution center, assigning license plates to pallets, and entering data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Responsibilities include counting cartons, verifying product descriptions, completing forms, and maintaining high accuracy standards. Candidates need basic math and reading skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to operate equipment like pallet jacks and RF units. The role requires physical stamina for continuous walking, standing, and occasional heavy lifting in a fast-paced environment.
The Checker verifies incoming merchandise by item, SKU, quantity and pack for accuracy. Compares to bill of lading and prepares for storage in the distribution center. Assign license plates to each pallet and enter information into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Job Responsibility
• Counts and records cartons unloaded from trailers.
• Verifies packing and product description by opening one case per item.
• Creates pallet license plates and completes delivery tickets.
• Scans UPCs and enters item data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Completes food inspection forms for applicable items.
• Maintains receiving accuracy within a 0.5% variance.
• May log daily production activity.
• Consistently meets safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Job Qualifications
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form with distribution center staff, Reorder and Merchandising departments; ability to interpret written information.
• Basic math and reading skills; ability to use a calculator.
• Ability to analyze and research discrepancies
• Ability to use a computer, radio frequency unit, and Cubiscan equipment.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
• Competency to operate pallet jack.
Working Conditions
• Continuous walking or standing; walking long distances.
• Bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling on repetitious basis.
• Exposure to extreme heat and cold and changing climatic conditions.
• Exposure to dust, lighting, and noise.
• Occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
• Fast-paced environment.
• Work is conducted around heavy equipment (i.e., tow motors and pallet jacks).
Education/Experience
• Distribution experience preferred.
• Quality check or audit experience preferred.
• Warehouse management system applications experience preferred.
