Role summary

Performs a variety of standardized and specialized tests in a clinical laboratory setting. Responsibilities include obtaining and preparing specimens, preparing reagents, performing tests, calculating and reviewing results for accuracy, and maintaining records. The role involves investigating alternative procedures, evaluating new methods and instrumentation, and potentially assuming supervisory duties in the supervisor's absence. Excellent customer service skills are required, along with a current California MTA CLS license. This is a per diem, days position requiring every other weekend work.

Job Summary
Performs a variety of standardized tests, including advanced and specialized tests appropriate to the discipline of the assigned laboratory section. Obtains specimens where necessary. Prepares the specimen and decides the suitability of the specimen for the requested test. Prepares reagents. Performs tests, determines and calculates results. Reviews results for accuracy. Maintains proper records. Discusses methods and general procedures. Investigates alternative procedures, where appropriate,
and reviews results with the supervisor. May assume supervisory capabilities in the absence of the immediate supervisor. Evaluates new test methods and instrumentation.

c. Minimum License Requirement :
Current California MTA CLS license. A sixty-day grace period for renewals is granted to allow the Department processing time. The licensee is allowed to practice his/her trade beyond the license expiration date through the end of the grace period. A minimum of a MTE license required if working at ICH Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Microbiology department.

Must work every other weekend
