Data Scientist, Market Making
Role summary
FanDuel is seeking a Data Scientist for its Market Making team to build and enhance predictive models and algorithmic decision systems for automated pricing and trading. This role involves translating sports, market, and operational data into models that improve price and execution quality, market competitiveness, and risk management. Responsibilities include model development, deployment, data preparation, pricing logic research, building simulation tools, performance analysis, and collaborating with engineering and product teams. The ideal candidate has a strong quantitative background, proficiency in Python/R and SQL, and experience with model deployment. Familiarity with sports betting or prediction markets is a plus. The role requires flexibility for occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work tied to live events.

From research and data collection through production deployment and monitoring, you will build and improve the predictive models and algorithmic decision systems that power automated pricing and trading. Working closely with algorithmic traders, quant engineers, and product teams, you will translate sports, market, and operational data into models that improve price quality, execution quality, market competitiveness, and risk management. This role requires flexibility around the sporting calendar, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays tied to major live events.
In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

The applicable [salary] / [hourly] range for this position is $98,000 - $152,250 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
