Role summary

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is seeking a Mill Team Lead responsible for meeting quality and production goals, enforcing safety practices, and leading assigned work cells. This role involves training employees, supplementing the production line, and ensuring safety and quality standards are a priority. Key responsibilities include auditing PPE usage, communicating safety updates, reporting safety issues, assisting with accident investigations, responding to operator alerts, auditing materials, identifying improvement opportunities, resolving production discrepancies, and generating performance reports using Microsoft Office Suite. A minimum of 2 years of operations or manufacturing experience is preferred, along with demonstrated leadership initiative and job knowledge.

We are searching for a Mill Team Lead to join our team. The Mill Team Lead is responsible for assisting with meeting quality & production goals and enforce safe work practices for assigned work cells. Leads will assist in training new and existing employees, supplementing the production line when required, and proactively creating an environment where safety/quality standards are a priority.

Essential Functions:

  • Audit/verify proper PPEs are being utilized for assigned group
  • Communicate safety updates and toolbox topics to assigned group
  • Report all safety issues to Production Supervisor
  • Assist with accident investigations
  • Escalate issues to Production Supervisor
  • Respond to Operator alerts within assigned work cell - Standard Work/non-conformance
  • Audit line-side material - ensure min/max is maintained for assigned work cell
  • Identify and report (to Production Supervisor) Team opportunities for improvement and Prod, Safety, Quality, and Training,
  • Report to and assist the Production Supervisor in resolving discrepancies and production issues. Follow up and correct problems.
  • Records issue and facilitate resolution or escalate to Supervisor.
  • Direct Team Members to accomplish the department’s daily and weekly goals
  • Generate reports using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint regarding downtime, production, training, and inventory
  • All other duties as assigned

    • Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years operations /manufacturing experience preferable in Fender
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate in English & Spanish preferred
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead others for improved performance
  • Demonstrated job knowledge - ability to perform all jobs in department

Please note that it is not typical for a Fender employee to be at or near the top of the pay scale for their role – especially as a new hire – and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Subject to the foregoing, the current pay rate for this position is $20.50 per hour.
