Lead UX Designer
Role summary
FlightCast is seeking a Lead UX Designer to make their video podcast publishing platform the easiest to use for creators and enterprise teams. This role involves redesigning and evolving the product experience to eliminate confusion and friction in publishing, managing, and analyzing content. The Lead UX Designer will focus on improving core workflows, reducing user confusion with data, enhancing onboarding success, designing for multiple user personas, and shipping continuous UX improvements. The position requires significant experience in web-based SaaS product design, using analytics for design decisions, simplifying complex workflows, familiarity with tools like Figma, and experience working with engineering teams in fast-paced startup environments. The role is hybrid, with an in-person preference in Los Angeles.

We’re co-founded by Steven Bartlett - The Diary of a CEO - the second largest podcast in the world. We are purpose-built to help make the largest podcasts even bigger.
MISSION
Make FlightCast the easiest platform for creators and enterprise podcast teams to use. You will redesign and evolve the product experience so users can publish, manage, and analyse their content without confusion, friction, or dozens of tutorials.
You will become obsessed with taking a complex product that has multiple user types and workflows and make it feel as easy, obvious, intuitive, and fast.
This role is 40% UX Research, 40% UX Design, 20% UI Design.
OUTCOMES
- Redesign core product workflows
- Improve key user journeys (publishing, analytics, onboarding, ad campaigns) so users can complete tasks faster and with less friction.
- Reduce user confusion with data
- Identify where users get stuck using PostHog analytics, user recordings, and customer research (literal calls),then redesign flows to eliminate repeated issues.
- Improve onboarding success and time-to-value
- Increase the percentage of users who successfully pay and setup. Redesign the onboarding to drip feed value.
- Design for multiple user personas
- Build UX that works seamlessly for enterprise teams, producers, executive assistants, and individual creators. Make common things easy, make uncommon things possible.
- Ship meaningful UX improvements continuously
- Move beyond static redesigns by delivering incremental improvements that consistently make the product easier to use.
- Create many simple iterations with various tools
- For all designs, use AI design or coding tools to find initial ideas, then flesh them out in your preferred tool by hand.
COMPETENCIES
- Significant experience designing web-based SaaS products.
- Proven ability to use analytics and customer insight to guide design decisions.
- Strong product thinking and ability to simplify extremely complex workflows (we have a lot of buttons)
- Familiarity with tools like Figma, Paper, or other modern prototyping tools.
- Uses AI-assisted tools to rapidly generate and explore multiple design directions during early concept and mock-up stages.
- Experience working directly with engineering teams in fast-paced startup environments.
- Experience designing dashboard-style or workflow-heavy products.
- Experience with creator tools, publishing platforms, or media products.

- Core workflows feel clear and obvious to new users.
- Product metrics improve (activation, publishing success, task completion).
- The product evolves from a functional v1 experience into a highly polished v2 platform.
