Role summary
Formlabs is seeking an R&D Engineer to join their team and contribute to the development of 3D printing technology. This role involves researching next-generation printers and materials, turning ideas into reliable products through engineering, physics, and experimentation. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker comfortable in a multi-disciplinary environment, experienced in experiment design and data analysis, and proficient in mechanical design, mechatronics, and CAD modeling. Familiarity with Python or Matlab is preferred, as are bonus skills in manufacturing compliance and 3D printing technologies. The position offers a competitive salary range and a comprehensive benefits package.
About Formlabs:
A 3D printer is one of the most demanding machines you can build.
Lasers, optics, precision motion, thermals, airflow, materials handling, chemistry, sensing, controls, and software all have to work at micron-scale precision, for thousands of layers, with almost no tolerance for error. Making that work reliably is an extraordinary engineering problem.
That’s what we do.
At Formlabs, we’re building 3D printers that are changing the way things get made. We have the smartest minds across every engineering discipline, and the technology they’re building is deployed at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA.
Your Impact:
Our growing R&D team is a mix of mechanical, systems, and software engineers. We develop and maintain the Formlabs printing process. Our team works closely with other engineering teams to research next-generation printers and materials. We use engineering, physics, and experimentation to turn ideas into beautiful and reliable products.
If you are a systems thinker who enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary environment we would love you to join our R&D team as a 3D Printing R&D Engineer.
