Role summary
Formlabs is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to oversee their prototyping and development process for 3D printers. This role involves managing Bill of Materials (BOM), inventory, and product configurations, pushing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and ensuring efficient prototype builds. The Mechanical Project Manager will organize work, motivate teams, track progress, communicate with stakeholders, and manage the configuration of prototype printers. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and willing to lead by example, with a strong understanding of hardware development and process improvement. Bonus skills include depth in mechanical or electrical engineering, integration software, data analysis, and PLM systems.
About Formlabs:
A 3D printer is one of the most demanding machines you can build.
Lasers, optics, precision motion, thermals, airflow, materials handling, chemistry, sensing, controls, and software all have to work at micron-scale precision, for thousands of layers, with almost no tolerance for error. Making that work reliably is an extraordinary engineering problem.
That’s what we do.
At Formlabs, we’re building 3D printers that are changing the way things get made. We have the smartest minds across every engineering discipline, and the technology they’re building is deployed at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA.
Your Impact:
The Mechanical Project Manager makes sure our prototyping and development process is efficient and executed firmly. At Formlabs we’re constantly iterating on our products and building new prototypes. As the engineering project manager you’ll work with the mechanical engineering team and the engineering team broadly to bring these prototypes to life and once they’re built to make sure they’re being maintained and used effectively. You’ll also work closely with the mechanical engineering team to support the complexities of developing hardware such as managing BOMs, inventory and product configurations. This is a role that benefits from energizing your peers and has high visibility as your results are our highly coveted prototype products.
