Role summary
Glacier Fish Company seeks an Assistant Cook to prepare family-style meals for approximately 40 crew members aboard a 200-foot at-sea processing vessel operating in the Bering Sea and surrounding waters. Responsibilities include cooking, baking, menu planning, inventory assistance, loading/unloading supplies, and maintaining kitchen sanitation standards on a 24/7 schedule. This role requires proficiency in culinary arts and adherence to food safety regulations, with a preference for candidates with 3+ years of experience as a cook on a fishing vessel or cruise ship. Basic understanding of relevant laws and regulations is also preferred.

Assistant Cook works aboard an at-sea processing vessel of the coast of Alaska in the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. This position prepares family style meals, cleans and maintains a 200 foot vessel with 40 crewmembers, that works on a 24/7 schedule.All candidates subject to a post offer pre-employment drug test, medical and background screen.
3+ years’ of experience as a Cook on a fishing vessel or cruise ship preferred
Highly proficient in baking, cooking along with preparing recipes for 50+ groups.
Basic understanding of the various laws and regulations and how/when they may apply.
Excellent communication skills; written and spoken English. Prepares meals as assigned for the crew and others on a daily basis using kitchen equipment, tools and supplies stored in dry storage, refrigerators and frozen storage areas.
Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number of crew to be served
Prepares breakfast and midnight meals on a daily basis
Bakes breads and desserts
Plans menus with Head Cook to best utilize inventory
Assists with inventory and ordering as requested by Head Cook
Assist in loading and unloading of food and other supplies into various storage areas located on various levels of the vessel.
Cleans kitchen area, equipment and tools after each meal to sanitation standards Company travel policy agreement: Successful completion of a 65 day contract grants eligibility for airfare/hotel expenses, between the vessel and Seattle, to be paid by the company. Each fishing trip averages 12-18 days and can be more or less dependent on fishing conditions.
