Role summary

WAPT, an ABC/CBS affiliate in Jackson, MS, is seeking a Sales Assistant to provide administrative and traffic support to the Sales department. Responsibilities include data entry of commercial instructions and material, coordinating commercial assets, submitting last-minute orders, and distributing daily logs. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel, experience with time-sensitive projects, and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Previous commercial television experience is preferred. Hearst Television values collaboration, open communication, and authentic content creation.

WAPT, the ABC/CBS affiliate in Jackson, MS has a position open for a Sales Assistant to provide general support to the Sales department of our station. You will provide administrative assistance to perform traffic and general responsibilities, including data entry of commercial traffic material.

Responsibilities:

  • Data entry of commercial instructions
  • Collect and apply commercial material
  • Liaison to a central facility
  • Submit last-minute orders/revisions and log changes
  • Coordinate locally received commercial material
  • Distribute the final daily log
  • Help with local station order/ make good input and reporting needs

    • Requirements:

  • Must have computer and software experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
  • Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive projects associated with advertising sales
  • Keen on learning new systems promptly and thoroughly
  • Must be focused and organized
  • Previous commercial television experience preferred
  • Must take pride in work, respond to instruction well and perform at a high-level
  • Related military experience will be considered
