Role summary
Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) is seeking a Senior Municipal Engineer for their Omaha, NE office. This role involves assessing project feasibility, preparing engineering documents, managing budgets and schedules, and participating in client meetings. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field, a Professional Engineer license in NE (or ability to obtain within six months), and 10+ years of preferred experience, with recent experience in NE. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring civil engineers, managing projects, and developing client relationships. This is an onsite, full-time position.
- Assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs, or market demand.
- Prepare engineering documents, including design reports, cost estimates, project schedules, etc. in accordance with the latest governing codes.
- Effectively manage budgets, schedules, and timely completion of projects.
- Participate in pre-project presentations, interviews, client meetings, and preconstruction meetings.
- Lead and mentor other civil engineers assigned to projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field.
- Professional Engineer license in NE or ability to obtain within six months
- 10+ years experience preferred, with recent experience in NE
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Experience with project management and budgeting
- Capability of supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and clients
- Good driving record and valid driver’s license
