Senior GCP Platform Engineer
Overview
We are looking for a senior-level engineer to help design, build, and support cloud-based platforms and APIs that power connected mobility solutions. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on in Java and Spring Boot, strong in Google Cloud Platform, and comfortable working across platform engineering, API development, microservices, CI/CD, and production support.
You will work closely with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams to turn requirements into scalable, production-ready services. This position is a strong fit for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving platform performance and reliability, and contributing across the full software delivery lifecycle in a modern cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support cloud-based platforms, APIs, and services
- Build Spring Boot / Java APIs and microservices on Google Cloud Platform using services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Spanner, and Cloud Pub/Sub
- Implement platform and API solutions that support the mobility ecosystem
- Take end-to-end responsibility for software services and the platform supporting customer experiences
- Participate in requirement-gathering and whiteboard sessions with stakeholders
- Partner with product managers to break solutions into incremental, production-ready user stories
- Refactor APIs and microservices to improve simplicity and efficiency
- Execute API load and performance activities on developed APIs and modules
- Perform software engineering using test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
- Collaborate with team members to establish best practices that maximize efficiency and minimize risk
- Support end-to-end integration, testing, and issue triage with cross-functional teams
- Use tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, CheckMarx, Fossa, and GitHub to deploy, improve, and manage software
- Stay current on emerging technologies and contribute to technical direction with a customer-centric mindset
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in cloud-based technical roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, Java, Spring Boot, and Apigee
- Experience developing backend solutions with Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud
- Front-end experience with React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience with Maven and Gradle
- Experience with GKE, GKE Enterprise, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions
- Experience with Anthos and hybrid / multi-cloud environments
- Experience with Anthos Service Mesh / Istio and mTLS
- Experience with Google Cloud API Gateway, Apigee, ingress controllers, and cloud load balancing
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Google Cloud Build
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Helm Charts
- Experience with blue/green, canary, and rolling deployments
- Experience with JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, Pact, and end-to-end testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
- Experience with GCP IAM roles, service accounts, secret management tools, and privileged access management
- Experience with Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Cloud Trace, Kiali, Jaeger, and APM tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or AppDynamics
- Experience with Jira and ServiceNow
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and associated tools
- Strong technical acumen in cloud computing platforms and technologies
- Ability to work through incomplete data and drive solutions forward
