Role summary

Ice Miller LLP is seeking a mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate for its Indianapolis office. The role involves handling all aspects of complex litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial. Responsibilities include managing business disputes in various forums, coordinating experts, overseeing dockets, leading investigations, drafting legal documents, and preparing witnesses. The associate will also supervise and mentor junior staff, serve as a client advisor, and collaborate with partners on business development. The position requires a J.D., active Indiana law license, 3+ years of law firm experience, strong communication and analytical skills, and permanent US work authorization. The salary range is $187,000-$225,000, with bonus opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Ice Miller is seeking a mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Practice Group, preferably in our Indianapolis office. Ideal candidates will have three (3) to five (5) years of experience, a strong interest in leading cases, managing teams, and contributing to strategic case development and execution.

In this position, you will:

  • Handle all aspects of complex litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, depositions, trial and/or oral advocacy.
  • Manage business disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels, including coordinating experts, overseeing large case dockets, and leading fact investigations (interviews and records review).
  • Draft and develop litigation strategies, pleadings, briefs, and motions, and engage in strategic depositions and witness preparation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, supporting their professional development and training.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, including general counsels, executives, boards, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partners on business development and client relationship management, including participating in pitches, contributing to presentations and proposals, and supporting ongoing client engagement, with a clear path for advancement and active encouragement to grow a practice.

    • Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • At least three (3) years of experience practicing law in a law firm
  • Active law license in Indiana
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and business judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
