Role summary

Interpath Laboratory is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist/Processor for their Float team. This role requires at least 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience and involves performing blood draws, assisting with specimen collection and processing, and providing coverage across multiple locations. Responsibilities include administrative duties, technical specimen handling, accurate data management, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and HIPAA. The position offers a starting pay of $19/hour, Monday-Friday schedule with variable hours/locations, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(K). A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required. Experience in clinical laboratory or healthcare settings is preferred.

Interpath Laboratory is looking for a Phlebotomist/Processor to join our Float team! We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist with at least 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience who is comfortable working across multiple locations and adapting to a variety of patient and clinic needs. In this role, you'll perform patient blood draws, assist with specimen collection and processing, and provide coverage where needed to support smooth day-to-day operations. Pay: Starting at $19 per hour, with flexibility based on experience

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday; hours and location vary based on operational needs; Some overnight travel may be required as needed

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service to patients and families, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms.

Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening, with a focus on pediatric patients.

Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information.

Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity.

Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance activities.

Flexibility: Supporting clinic operations and assisting with coverage as needed to ensure smooth day-to-day workflow.

Reliability: Maintaining consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance to ensure continuity of operations and support for our team and patients.

Education & Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

At least 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience required

Experience working in a clinical laboratory, physician office, hospital, or other healthcare setting preferred

Experience working with a variety of patient populations preferred

Previous float, multi-site, or coverage-based experience is a plus

Licensing & Driving Requirements

Valid, unrestricted driver’s license

Clean driving record

Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with pediatric patients and their families

Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy

Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities effectively

As a commitment to our clients and their requirements, all candidates for this position must meet the following immunization and health screening requirements before starting employment at the designated site:

Annual Influenza (Flu) vaccination

Hepatitis B (HepB) series

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination

Tuberculosis (TB) test, PPD (within the last 12 months)

Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (TDAP) vaccination (within the last 10 years)

Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccination or immunity

Drug screening, as required by designated client sites

*Proof of immunization or immunity will be requested upon hiring. If not presently immunized, but willing to receive, Interpath will cover the associated costs at their partner clinic.*

Physical Requirements:

Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds.

High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs.

Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield).

Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day.

Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.

Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

OSHA Category: This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
