Role summary

Kelso Southwest is seeking a skilled Orbital Welder to perform precision welding on tubing and piping using specialized equipment. Responsibilities include setting up and operating orbital welding systems, preparing and inspecting components, following welding procedures, and ensuring weld quality through inspection. Kelso Southwest is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Orbital Welder to perform precision welding on tubing, piping, and related components using orbital welding equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with orbital welding systems, a strong understanding of welding procedures, and a commitment to producing high-quality, consistent welds that meet industry standards and customer specifications.

This position requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a production or fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and maintain orbital welding equipment and associated tooling.

Perform precision orbital welds on stainless steel tubing, piping, and other specified materials.

Prepare, clean, fit, and inspect components prior to welding.

Follow approved welding procedures, work instructions, drawings, and specifications.

Verify weld quality through visual inspection and other required inspection methods.

Troubleshoot welding equipment, parameters, and weld inconsistencies.

Maintain accurate production records and required quality documentation.

Ensure welds meet applicable quality standards and customer requirements.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Work closely with production, quality control, and engineering teams to meet production schedules.

Follow all company safety policies and applicable welding procedures.

Qualifications

Previous orbital welding experience preferred.

Familiarity with orbital welding power supplies, weld heads, and purge systems.

Knowledge of stainless steel tubing preparation, fit-up, and contamination prevention.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and welding procedures.

Understanding of weld inspection and quality control requirements.

Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve basic welding issues.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Reliable attendance and a commitment to quality and safety.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with automated orbital GTAW (TIG) welding.

Experience in industrial piping, process piping, or precision tube fabrication.

Familiarity with purge gas systems and weld documentation.

Relevant welding certifications or documented welding procedure qualifications.

Experience working in regulated or high-purity fabrication environments, if applicable.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Ability to lift and move materials and equipment within established safety limits.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and work with precision components
