Role summary

Ladder is seeking a remote Junior Underwriter to join their life insurance team. This role involves performing line underwriting on individual term life cases up to $1 million, analyzing medical, personal, and financial data using traditional and innovative sources, and making final decisions. The Junior Underwriter will manage application review within quality standards and turnaround times, collaborate with Customer Operations, and work closely with a peer mentor for development. The position requires 5+ years of life insurance industry experience, experience in new business workflows, and a demonstrated interest in collaborative team environments. The role is based in one of 23 eligible states, excluding the SF Bay Area, New York City, and Seattle.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a variety of support and follow up items with the goal of keeping business flowingefficiently
  • Work closely with the Customer Operations to answer underwriting-related questions
  • Perform line underwriting on individual term life cases, evaluating medical and personal history onapplications up to $1 million face amount
  • Analyze medical, personal and financial data from both traditional and innovative data sources tomake final decisions
  • Manage varying volumes of application review within set quality standards and turnaround times
  • Work closely with a peer mentor as part of your continued development as a proficient lifeunderwriter
  • Report to the Underwriting Manager

    • Experience Required

  • 5+ years of life insurance industry experience at a leading carrier or reinsurer
  • Acted as a support resource for life underwriters or undergone training to be a life underwriter
  • Worked in new business workflows
  • Managed follow ups of underwriting requirements
  • Learned the life cycle of an application and basic processing standards
  • Demonstrated interest in being part of a collaborative team to better serve en

    • Base pay for this role is determined by the location where the work will be performed and is aligned with the two compensation tiers, as indicated below. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and business needs. In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for equity and benefits as shared above.

    Tier 2 & Tier 3 (All other locations that Ladder hires with eh exception of San Francisco and New York) $55,500- $69,200
