Role summary

Language Services Associates (LSA) is seeking qualified Yiddish interpreters to join their network of independent contractors. This remote, telephonic interpreter role involves handling calls on demand to facilitate communication for Limited English Proficient individuals across various settings. Responsibilities include providing effective remote interpreting, answering calls promptly, delivering superior customer service, and adhering to strict confidentiality and professional conduct standards. Candidates must be fully fluent in English and Yiddish, technologically proficient, and have a quiet, secure workspace. While not required, 1+ years of professional interpreting experience and relevant industry certifications are preferred.

Overview:

As a telephonic interpreter for Yiddish in LSA’s network of Independently Contracted Interpreters, you are responsible for handling telephone calls on demand and facilitating language communication for the Limited English Proficient (LEP) community in a variety of settings. Language Services Associates is continuously accepting qualified interpreters!

Responsibilities:

Provide effective telephonic remote interpreting

Answer inbound calls in a timely manner

Provide superior customer service

Adhere to Code of Professional Conduct, including maintaining strict standards of confidentiality

Adhere to all policies and procedures, including professional interpretation protocols and industry specific best practices

Qualifications/Experience:

Full fluency in both English and Yiddish

Technology proficient (web-based platforms, email, Microsoft Word)

An interpreting space that is quiet, secure, and free from outside noises

1+ years of professional interpreting experience preferred

Industry specific certifications/trainings preferred (CMI, CCHI, Bridging the Gap, Cross-Cultural, etc.)
