Role summary

Loula is seeking experienced full-spectrum doulas to join their network of independent providers in California. Loula facilitates doula care by partnering with Medicaid and commercial health insurance plans, handling administrative tasks such as enrollment, credentialing, insurance verification, billing, and payment. This allows doulas to focus on providing care. Doulas can earn up to $134/hour, receive direct deposits twice a month, and benefit from free credentialing and client referrals. The role offers flexibility with no client minimums. Minimum qualifications include either completed 16 hours of birth doula training and attended 3 births, or 5 years of doula experience with 3 letters of recommendation, along with adult/infant CPR and HIPAA training, and liability insurance.

Loula is looking for experienced full-spectrum doulas in the Chula Vista area to join our network as paid, non-exclusive independent contractors.

Accept Medi-Cal and some commercial insurance plans without the paperwork. We handle credentialing, insurance verification, billing, and payment, and pay you twice a month even when a claim is denied. Full-spectrum doulas can earn about $2,600 per client they bring themselves and about $2,300 per client Loula refers, when they complete all of the visits the client's plan covers. Actual earnings vary by health plan and number of visits.

Who can apply? Experienced doulas in California who have supported at least 3 births as a doula OR have at least 5 years of doula experience. See the training and documentation requirements below. You do not need to be Medi-Cal approved to apply. We can help with credentialing.

  • Client referrals as we grow: Our Care Navigator also matches insured families with doulas in our network when there's a fit in your area. Referrals depend on demand and are not guaranteed.

  • Build your own practice, your way: You're an independent contractor in a non-exclusive network, so keep your own clients and practice alongside your work with Loula.
