Role summary

We are seeking a Robot Field Engineer to support pilot deployments at customer sites. This role involves overseeing and operating robotic systems, coordinating with customer engineering teams, executing test plans, and performing first-level software triage. You will integrate robotic solutions with customer systems, monitor task success rates, and conduct routine and preventative maintenance, including repairs on robotic hardware and electromechanical systems. Collaboration with internal Autonomy, Controls, and Integration teams, as well as the customer team, is crucial for ensuring successful field operations and meeting requirements. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, hands-on experience with robotic systems, proficiency in C++/Python, ROS2, Linux, and robotics networking protocols are required.

About the Role

As a Robot Field Engineer at Maven Robotics, you will play a key role in supporting pilot deployments at customer sites, collaborating closely with the Controls, Autonomy, and Integration teams to ensure reliable robot performance in real-world environments. You’ll also partner with the Customer team to ensure deployments meet customer requirements and expectations.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee and operate robotic systems within pilot environments to meet operational goals
  • Coordinate with the customer engineering team and collect their feedback to ensure that our solution is meeting their expectations and goals
  • Collaborate with the Maven Autonomy and Controls teams to execute on-site test plans
  • Conduct first-level software triage, diagnose operational issues, and clearly report findings to the engineering development team for resolution
  • Integrate our robotic solutions with customer systems
  • Proactively monitor and manage robot task success rate and throughput
  • Execute routine and preventative maintenance on robotic hardware and electromechanical systems to ensure peak performance
  • Repair or replace electrical and mechanical components as necessary

    • What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working with complex robotic or electromechanical systems
  • Proficiency with C++/Python programming languages and familiarity with ROS2 and Linux-based development and debugging environments
  • Working knowledge of common robotics networking and communication protocols (e.g., CANOpen, EtherCAT, UART)
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues effectively, and ensure the successful completion of robotic tasks
  • Comfortable working with standard mechanical and electrical tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, crimpers, multi-meter)
  • Ability to travel 40-50% of the time to customer facilities

  • Masters of Science (M.S.) in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field
  • Previous experience deploying and supporting robotic systems in field or production environments
  • Familiarity with safety-critical or real-time software systems
