Role summary
Mercury is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Bank Accounts team to build and manage the core banking infrastructure. This role involves leading a team of 4-8 senior engineers, translating product direction into team objectives, and ensuring the reliability and maintainability of banking services. The manager will partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, Operations) and oversee the hiring and development of engineers. Experience with high-integrity financial systems and strong technical judgment are essential. Familiarity with Haskell and TypeScript is a plus. The position offers competitive salary and equity within the fintech industry.
Roman aqueducts quietly carried water across cities and made daily life possible. Their value was not in the structures themselves, but in everything they enabled.
The Bank Accounts team plays a similar role at Mercury. We build the foundation for depository accounts*: managing money held in Mercury accounts and helping customers move money between accounts they own.
The work ahead is especially exciting: as Mercury is opening its own bank, this team will build a major part of the foundation needed to manage customer accounts at that scale. The systems and capabilities we build will support how customers open, use, manage, and move money between their accounts.
Your job as an engineering manager at Mercury is to make our banking* core run so smoothly that people barely notice it’s there.
