Role summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company (MHC), a large Kenworth truck dealership group, is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. This role involves performing heavy-duty mechanical repairs with on-the-job training to achieve Service Journeyman status. Responsibilities include general mechanical duties, working on major components like engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, and brakes, as well as performing troubleshooting and general maintenance. The position requires adherence to safety practices and maintaining an orderly workspace. A CDL and specific certifications (A/C, Brake, DOT Annual Inspector) are preferred, with a minimum of three years of experience or vocational training required. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. The role of the Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision, receiving on the job training in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.

Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
Gains experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
Works on major components with close supervision.
Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
Attends training sessions and meetings.
Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

CDL preferred.
Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses.
A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
