Role summary

Michels Corporation is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to support the preparation and documentation of financial statements and reports, and directly supervise financial support team members. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, high attention to detail, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will lead monthly closing, consolidation, and account reconciliation processes, oversee general ledger entries, and coordinate various financial reporting activities. The position also involves participation in special projects and ad hoc analyses. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, 5-7 years of accounting experience, financial systems proficiency, and management experience are required. A CPA is preferred.

Core Hours: 9:00am - 6:00pm CST

Responsibilities include managing a team of employees, reporting out on monthly metrics and actively seek opportunities to improve business processes. Critical for success are a high attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to provide and maintain organization and direction.

    • Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise members of the team. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and providing feedback.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and reports.
  • Lead the monthly closing and consolidation process, account reconciliations, and related analysis and reporting. Oversee, prepare, and review general ledger entries and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Actively participate on special projects: identify and recommend best practices.
  • Coordinate the daily and weekly reporting and recording of banking activity.
  • Coordinate the reconciliation and reporting of inter-company activity with related companies.
  • Coordinate the gathering of and submission of data related to the yearend audit.
  • Perform ad hoc projects and analyses.
  • Provide resources and information to meet operational needs. Maintain open communication with divisional and departmental leads to ensure coordination of accounting needs..Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, 5-7 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination
  • Financial systems experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
  • Management experience
  • Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team
