Modular Medical, Inc. (Nasdaq: MODD) is a San Diego–based medical device company working to simplify diabetes management and make the benefits of insulin pump therapy accessible to more people. Our first insulin pump, the Pivot™ tubeless insulin patch pump, has received FDA 510(k) clearance and is now reaching patients. We are a small, hands-on team where engineers own meaningful work end to end and see the direct impact of what they build on people living with diabetes.
We are looking for a Senior iOS Software Engineer to carry our next-generation mobile application across the finish line and lead its ongoing development as our product line grows.
What You'll Do
- Take our next-generation iOS app across the finish line and own it through release and beyond.
- Build new features that expand what patients and caregivers can do with our insulin pump devices.
- Maintain the legacy iOS app as patients transition to the new one.
- Contribute to shared core components intended to support a future Android app, with emphasis on correctness, safety, and testability.
- Partner with engineers, managers, and UX/UI designers; write clean, reliable, well-tested code.
- Ensure our apps meet medical device standards, regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO), and data security expectations.
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years building and shipping iOS applications; healthcare or medical device experience a plus.
- Strong Swift (including actors, async/await, generics, strict concurrency) and solid SwiftUI experience.
- Working knowledge of UIKit, CoreData, CoreBluetooth, and common mobile architecture patterns.
- Familiarity with Apple's design guidelines, human interface standards, and accessibility principles.
- Mobile security practices, ideally in a healthcare context (HIPAA, encryption); experience with RESTful APIs.
- Testing experience with XCTest and/or Swift Testing.
- Comfort working across both a modern codebase and an older one.
Nice to Have
- Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or wearable device integration.
- Interest in the Swift SDK for Android or sharing Swift code across platforms.
- FDA regulations and medical device software compliance; CI/CD; Agile/Scrum; SwiftData.
