Role summary
Mount Thor is seeking exceptional individuals to contribute to making Apple hardware performant at datacenter scale for AI workloads. The team focuses on building the infrastructure layer for elastic, developer-friendly compute, encompassing distributed systems, fleet control planes, provisioning, OS, networking, security, data center operations, hardware reliability, developer tools, and agentic engineering. They are particularly interested in engineers and operators who can see around organizational boundaries and drive ambiguous problems to measurable outcomes, with strong judgment in reliability and security. This role is for candidates who can identify and own significant problems, leveraging AI and software agents to enhance their work.
Mount Thor is always interested in exceptional people who can help make Apple hardware available and performant at datacenter scale for AI workloads.
If none of our current openings fits your background, but you have a clear view of an important problem you could own here, use this application to tell us.
This is not a catch-all résumé submission. Strong applications make a specific case for the work, the outcome, and the evidence that you can deliver it.
The Work
We build the infrastructure layer that turns Apple hardware into elastic, developer-friendly compute for AI workloads. The work spans distributed systems, fleet control planes, machine provisioning and recovery, operating systems, networking, security, data center operations, hardware reliability, developer tools, and agentic engineering.
We are most interested in people who see around organizational boundaries: engineers who understand operations, operators who automate, and builders who can take an important problem from first principles through production.
What We Look For
Exceptional evidence of building, operating, or improving difficult systems.
The ability to take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to measurable outcomes.
Strong technical or operational judgment, particularly around reliability, security, and recovery.
A clear point of view about where Mount Thor should go and how you could help us get there.
Effective use of AI and software agents to increase the speed and quality of your work.
How to Apply
Tell us what work you would own at Mount Thor and the most concrete thing you would help us achieve in your first year. Include one example that demonstrates your ability to deliver—software, infrastructure, hardware, research, a product, a company, or another substantive body of work.
If a current opening already matches your background, apply to that role directly. This application is for exceptional candidates whose highest-impact contribution does not fit neatly into one of our existing descriptions.
Who We Are
Mount Thor makes Apple hardware—macOS and Apple Silicon—available and performant at datacenter scale for AI workloads. We take consumer hardware and build the infrastructure platform around it to enable consumption as elastic compute exposed through developer-friendly interfaces. Our customers use us to develop computer-use model capabilities, deploy long-running agents, and accelerate agentic engineering.
