About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff DevOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team at Crunchyroll. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for automating and scaling the systems and services that underpin our streaming platform. Your expertise will drive the development of infrastructure automation, scaling strategies, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of our services. You will collaborate closely with development and delivery teams to embed best practices, optimize workflows, and enhance the overall quality of our software architecture.
You will report directly to the Senior Manager, Cloud Reliability - Infrastructure Engineering and will be based in either Los Angeles, CA, or San Francisco, CA, operating on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office presence three days a week. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the core infrastructure of a rapidly growing entertainment technology company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, IT, or a related field.
- 12+ years of professional experience in DevOps and infrastructure management.
- At least 8 years of experience working in production environments that combine DevOps practices and software engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years managing containerized infrastructure using ECS or Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in automation, reusable patterns, and industry-standard tools for infrastructure management.
- Expertise in GitOps methodologies, CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, CodeDeploy, and automation frameworks.
- Extensive experience with AWS services including ECS, S3, SQS, Lambda, and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Pulumi and Terraform.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript; knowledge of Go or Python is preferred.
- Hands-on experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, as well as NoSQL databases like DynamoDB.
- Proven ability to guide and mentor engineers on production best practices and knowledge sharing.
- Experience with deployment strategies that meet data sovereignty requirements, including GDPR compliance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively on tools and processes that facilitate high-quality software delivery.

- Design, build, and maintain tools and systems that support services and streamline software delivery processes.
- Ensure adherence to infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and governance standards to maintain operational excellence.
- Implement and manage container orchestration solutions, optimizing for performance and reliability.
- Develop strategies for infrastructure scaling, monitoring, and incident response to minimize downtime and improve user experience.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance infrastructure capabilities.

Pay Range - San Francisco, CA: $221,000 - $277,000 USD (annual).
