About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team based in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced healthcare technology environment supporting critical infrastructure. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization’s digital assets by implementing, managing, and enhancing cybersecurity measures. Reporting to senior cybersecurity leadership, this role requires a proactive approach to threat detection and mitigation, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of sensitive data and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security operations, incident response, and compliance, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and external partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on security operations and incident response
- Proficiency in security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions
- Strong understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security best practices
- Experience with regulatory compliance standards such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and NIST frameworks
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GIAC are highly desirable
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and handle multiple priorities
Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts, incidents, and anomalies across enterprise systems to ensure rapid mitigation of threats
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards that align with organizational objectives and compliance requirements
- Coordinate incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery activities
- Collaborate with infrastructure, applications, network operations, compliance, and enterprise IT teams to enhance security posture
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to staff and stakeholders
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices
- Assist in audits and regulatory assessments to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations
