About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team at Sigmaways Inc. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing our product and development platforms utilizing modern data tools such as Databricks, Immuta, Starburst, Collibra, and AWS. Your expertise will be instrumental in migrating data and data management applications to the cloud, enhancing system efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enabling our clients to derive actionable insights from their data assets. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data engineering, cloud architecture, and automation, ensuring that our solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience, including at least 3 years managing complex systems and cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, particularly in designing and managing data infrastructure solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks or similar data processing platforms, with a strong understanding of data engineering workflows.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools such as Collibra and data access control systems like Immuta to ensure compliance and security.
  • Proficiency with distributed query engines, notably Starburst, to facilitate high-performance data querying and analysis.
  • Strong skills in CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Maven, and familiarity with source control systems such as Git, BitBucket, and AWS CodeCommit.
  • Experience working with binary and artifact repositories like Maven, Nexus, or Artifactory.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages and Linux operating systems to automate tasks and streamline workflows.
  • Experience with Agile project management tools such as Jira and VersionOne.
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation, testing, and operational best practices to ensure high-quality, reliable deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and document best practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) within cloud-based data platforms to ensure efficient and reliable delivery pipelines.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize data engineering tools including Databricks, Immuta, Starburst, and Collibra within AWS environments to support scalable data processing and governance.
  • Evaluate emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance system performance, scalability, and security, providing strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Coach and mentor application developers on building scalable, maintainable, and secure applications aligned with DevOps principles and cloud best practices.
  • Conduct regular system checks, audits, and spot reviews to ensure operational excellence and adherence to security standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across business units to ensure that technology solutions are aligned with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage dependencies and integrations across multiple platforms and applications to ensure seamless data flow and operational continuity.
  • Implement and enforce security policies and standards to safeguard data assets and maintain compliance with corporate and industry regulations.
  • Support data access control and governance initiatives by integrating with Immuta and Collibra, ensuring proper data stewardship and regulatory compliance.
