Role summary
Neuralink is seeking a Robotics Engineer to build and manage their next-generation surgical robot test fleet. This role involves breaking down robots into testable components, creating test rigs that replicate operating conditions, performing surgeries on brain proxies, and automating accelerated life testing. The engineer will be responsible for identifying and troubleshooting failures across mechanics, electronics, firmware, and software, and automating verification and validation processes. Key responsibilities include designing and building fixtures, implementing sensing and logging, and developing safe operating procedures. Collaboration with simulation and hardware-in-the-loop engineers is expected. The ideal candidate will have hands-on robotics experience, proficiency in Python for test automation and analysis, and a basic understanding of Rust. Experience with motor drives, sensors, hardware interfaces (Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, EtherCAT), reading schematics, and using diagnostic tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers is required. The role demands high agency, comfort with complex failures, and a disciplined approach to repeatability and evidence gathering, with an emphasis on leveraging AI agents for tooling and analysis.
About Neuralink:
We are creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain. These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.
The Role
Neuralink’s next generation surgical robot will perform brain surgery at scale, installing hundreds of tiny threads into the brain to enable brain computer communication.
You’ll own building out the robot test fleet. Break robots into testable components, build rigs that reproduce operating conditions, perform surgeries on brain proxies, and automate accelerated life testing (ALT). Your fleet gives us the evidence to ship new capabilities regularly and safely. When the robot misbehaves, you’re in the lab figuring it out.
What you’ll do
One day you’ll be chasing a failure that happened once, the next you’ll be building systems that run the same way every time. We need someone who can do both and knows which one the day calls for.
Note: The team is hiring engineers at all levels, both junior and senior. What matters most is evidence of exceptional abilities and a drive to succeed.
What we’re looking for
Expected Compensation:
The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees’ success with the company's long-term growth. As such, in addition to base salary, Neuralink offers equity compensation (in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSU)) for all full-time employees.
Base Salary Range:$151,000—$281,000 USDWhat We Offer:
Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits listed below.
