Role summary
Nori Robotics, a YC S26 startup building affordable humanoid robots, seeks an Electrical Engineer in San Francisco to scale hardware production. This role involves owning electrical systems from PCB design and firmware bring-up to wiring harnesses, supplier management, and production testing. Responsibilities include designing production-ready PCBs, validating power systems, debugging hardware, and collaborating with software and production teams. Experience with PCB design, embedded firmware, hardware debugging, battery-powered systems, and wire harness design is required. Familiarity with robotics, KiCad, and specific microcontrollers is especially relevant. The role is in-person, with potential for part-time for exceptional candidates.
What you’ll do:
Consolidate prototype electronics into production-ready PCBs, including sensing, battery monitoring, and lift-control integration.
Design preassembled wire harnesses and connector systems that make assembly faster and more reliable.
Validate power distribution, battery interfaces, protection, grounding strategy, and E-stop integration.
Bring up and validate boards, sensors, motor interfaces, and embedded firmware on real robots.
Work with PCB assembly and harness suppliers on sourcing, manufacturing files, quality, and revisions.
Build test fixtures and automated checks for incoming assemblies and completed robots.
Collaborate with our NYC software team on device interfaces, telemetry, fault handling, and commissioning.
Maintain accurate schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation.
What we’re looking for:
Experience taking PCBs from schematic and layout through fabrication, assembly, and bring-up.
Strong hands-on debugging skills with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
Experience with battery-powered systems, motor loads, DC/DC converters, and circuit protection.
Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded firmware, and interfaces such as I²C, SPI, UART, and USB.
Comfort owning a subsystem and working quickly through ambiguous hardware problems.
Especially relevant experience:
Robotics or electromechanical products; KiCad; RP2040/RP2350; IMUs and current sensing; wire-harness design; production test fixtures; small-batch manufacturing.
Your first priorities:
Validate our existing custom sensor board, simplify the robot’s electrical architecture, release tested PCB and harness assemblies, and establish a repeatable electrical commissioning process for our SF factory.
This role is in-person out of our San Francisco office in the Dogpatch / Hunters Point area. We encourage you to apply if this role interests you and suits your technical background, regardless of years of experience. We are also open to part-time arrangements for exceptional candidates currently in a degree program.
When applying, please ensure your resume includes examples of hardware you’ve built. Include what you personally designed, how you tested it, and any experience bringing it into production.
Compensation. Base compensation is $110–120k. Equity is discussed separately as part of the offer.
