About the Job

As the Senior Engineering Manager for the Hospitality Guest team, you will shape the technical vision, strategy, and execution for the core CRM systems powering guest-centric restaurant experiences globally. In this role, you will lead, coach, and grow an experienced team of senior product engineers while establishing standards for architectural resilience and delivery excellence. You will partner with leaders across Product, Design, and Data to transform complex business requirements into high-scale transactional and analytical systems. Your leadership will empower restaurants worldwide with actionable insights that elevate guest hospitality and drive informed operational decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of senior frontend and backend engineers, cultivating professional growth and sustained delivery quality.
  • Direct technical strategy and end-to-end execution from early planning and architecture through production launch and operations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product and Design leaders to influence strategic roadmaps and align technical initiatives with product goals.
  • Drive continuous process and operational improvements to optimize development workflows and elevate engineering standards.
  • Architect and deliver scalable product platforms and guest-facing features utilized by cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and maintaining scalable backend applications and distributed systems.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, directing people development, or leading complex, multi-team technical projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering end-to-end technical initiatives from initial architecture through deployment and long-term support.
  • Hands-on software development experience with backend languages (such as Java, C#, or Python) and relational or non-relational database systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in building CRM, hospitality, or data analytics platforms.
  • 3+ years experience leading full-stack engineering teams supporting modern frontend frameworks (such as React and TypeScript).
  • Demonstrated expertise in cross-functional stakeholder communication and translating technical roadmaps for business partners.
  • Practical experience deploying and managing containerized services within Kubernetes or cloud environments.
  • Experience designing or operating high-throughput transactional and analytical data systems, including streaming or orchestration tools (such as Kafka, Spark, or Airflow).
  • Benefits and Perks

  • Work from (almost) anywhere for up to 20 days per year
  • Focus on mental health and well-being:
  • Company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth
  • Company-paid subscription to Headspace
  • Annual company-wide week off a year - the whole team fully recharges (and returns without a pile-up of work!)
  • Paid parental leave
  • Generous paid vacation + time off for your birthday
  • Paid volunteer time
  • Focus on your career growth:
  • Development Dollars
  • Leadership development
  • Access to thousands of on-demand e-learnings
  • Travel Discounts
  • Employee Resource Groups
  • 20 days of paid time off
  • Private health and dental insurance
  • Life and Disability insurance
  • The best connections happen face-to-face, whether you’re sitting down to dinner or having coffee with a coworker. That’s why OpenTable has adopted a hybrid workplace model. This role aligns with that approach, with an expectation of coming into the office two days a week—giving employees the best of both worlds: in-person collaboration and flexibility.

We offer a competitive base salary and benefits including: health benefits; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave benefits. This role is eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.

    Work Environment & Flexibility

At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.

    Inclusion

We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve—and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.
