Role summary
Opto Investments is seeking a Director of Private Markets Operations to lead and scale its private market offerings. This senior contributor role focuses on owning and optimizing operational workflows for fund activity, investor onboarding, and capital events, ensuring accuracy and a high-quality client experience. The position involves designing scalable processes, systems, and controls, and translating fund documents into operational requirements. Key responsibilities include managing fund launches, overseeing third-party providers, and leading cross-functional projects. The role offers a path into people management as the business grows, with an emphasis on structured planning, process improvement, and client service. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in financial services or investment operations, with a focus on private markets, is required.
Opto is engineering the future of private markets to improve client outcomes and drive capital to the most transformative ideas.
The opportunity is huge. The global alternative investments industry is forecast to grow to $30T by 2029, however the private investment process typically remains opaque, highly manual, and error-prone, which limits access to the select few insiders who are willing to bear the pain.
Opto is a revolutionary end-to-end solution for wealth managers of any size- from small investment advisors to large multi-family offices to private banks- to build, fundraise for, and manage private markets programs at scale. We combine exceptional Silicon Valley engineering talent with experienced investors and industry specialists to fix this broken system through the power of technology. Our platform banishes the nightmare of slide decks, spreadsheets, and paperwork to the past, and arms our clients with the tools, data, and guidance to identify and access the right opportunities for their clients.
Fixing private markets will not be easy and demands courage, but we’re not afraid to do things differently. We are unapologetically bold. We value strong opinions, clear communication, and purposeful execution.

About the Role
As Director of Private Markets Operations, you will lead the execution and ongoing management of Opto's private market offerings and drive the next phase of the team's growth. You will own the operational workflows that underpin fund activity, investor onboarding, and capital events — ensuring accuracy, consistency, and a high-quality experience for clients and investors — while designing the processes, systems, and controls that let those workflows scale.
This is a senior contributor role with a path into management, reporting to the Head of Private Market Operations. It is built for a structured planner: someone who brings order to complexity, runs work off a plan rather than a fire drill, and contributes well beyond their own lane — partnering across Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and the Commercial team to move the whole organization forward. In the near term, you will be in the work; over time, you will provide direction and mentorship to the team and grow into managing within the Private Market Operations function as the business scales.
Your day-to-day will include:
Private Markets Execution & Capital Activity
Fund Launches & Operating Model Design
Client Service & Enterprise Engagements
Cross-Functional Projects, Technology & Team Growth
About You
Opto Investments is seeking an ambitious, experienced operator with a “can-do” attitude to lead the Private Market Operations team's next chapter. You are a structured planner — you break ambiguous problems into workstreams, sequence them, and keep multiple stakeholders informed and aligned — and you contribute across the organization, not just within your function. You have a proven record of navigating unstructured operational processes while handling multiple workstreams, and you're ready to move from executing the work to owning how the work gets done, with a path into managing the team that does it.
