Role summary

PathAI is seeking a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer to join their AI-powered pathology platform team in Boston, MA. This role involves driving application platform architecture, building new features, and refactoring existing ones. The engineer will work across the full development lifecycle, ensuring code quality, reliability, data integrity, and compliance within a SaaS platform used in clinical trials. Collaboration with product, design, ML, and infrastructure teams is key. The position requires 5+ years of full lifecycle development experience, proficiency in Python (Django/FastAPI), experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js/React), and cloud platform experience (AWS).

PathAI's mission is to improve patient outcomes with AI-powered pathology.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Fullstack Senior Software Engineer to join our team. You will help solve interesting problems with code and work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to solve problems in sustainable ways. You will drive the architecture of our application platform, considering the team's needs and our future product roadmap goals.

You will build new features for internal and external users, and refactor existing ones to make them better.

You will work across the full lifecycle of development; you will take responsibility for the quality of the code produced by you and the team.

You will collaborate with product, design, machine learning, and infrastructure teams.

You will contribute to a SaaS platform used in clinical trial workflows, ensuring reliability, data integrity, and compliance with industry standards.

You will collaborate with clinical, QA, and regulatory teams to ensure software changes meet validation expectations and support inspection readiness.

You will drive and uphold high engineering standards, bringing consistency to the codebases you encounter and ensuring software is adequately reviewed, tested, and integrated.

You will mentor, learn, and share knowledge with others along the way.

Who You Are:(Required)

You have a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related technical field.

You have 5+ years of full life cycle development experience.

You have demonstrated the ability to take on complex tasks, learn quickly and work in a proactive manner.

You have demonstrated experience and skills in designing and building Python-based (FastAPI or Django) applications.

You have experience with modern frontend JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or equivalent for building responsive, user-friendly interfaces.

You have a demonstrated foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO design.

You have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with a distributed team and to work autonomously on projects; You have demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.

You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to attend client-facing meetings and explain technical concepts to non-experts.

You have demonstrated cloud platform experience (AWS)

Preferred:

You have experience working in the healthtech industry

You have experience with modern frontend JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or equivalent for building responsive, user-friendly interfaces.

You have hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, e.g. GitLab CI

You have demonstrated knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes

You have knowledge of some IaC framework

You have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently.

This is a hybrid position based in Boston, MA. Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location Boston, MA is $127,500 - $195,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
