Experienced Mold & Asbestos Remediation Technician

Paul Davis Restoration of Northeast Texas · Full-time $20–$32/hour depending on experience and licenses

Who we are

We're a locally owned, family-run Paul Davis Restoration office. You get the backing of a national brand (training, equipment, steady insurance work), but you'll work for people who know your name, answer the phone when you call, and actually care whether you get home safe at night.

We're looking for an experienced remediation tech who already knows how to build a proper containment and doesn't need to be told why it matters. If you take pride in doing work the right way, we want to talk to you.

What you'll actually be doing

Mold remediation

  • Carry out the remediation protocol written by the licensed mold assessment consultant, following IICRC S520
  • Set up containment, negative air and engineering controls sized to the job
  • Remove and bag contaminated materials, then HEPA vacuum, wire brush or sand framing, damp wipe and apply antimicrobial where specified
  • Get the work area ready to pass post-remediation clearance the first time

Asbestos abatement

  • Build critical barriers and full containments with 6-mil poly, and set up 3-stage decon units (clean room, shower, equipment room)
  • Set up HEPA air filtration and keep the work area under negative pressure, checking and logging pressure readings with a manometer
  • Remove asbestos-containing materials using wet methods and amended water, including popcorn/acoustic ceilings, drywall texture and joint compound, floor tile and black mastic, pipe and boiler insulation (TSI), and transite
  • Do glovebag work and mini-enclosures where the job calls for it
  • Bag, label and seal waste properly, and help load and manifest it for disposal
  • Do final HEPA vacuuming, wet wiping and lockdown encapsulation so the area passes third-party clearance air testing the first time

Every job

  • Wear and maintain your PPE: full-face respirators or PAPRs, coveralls, gloves, boot covers
  • Document everything (photos, pressure logs, notes, waste counts) so our paperwork holds up with adjusters, consultants and the state
  • Explain to homeowners what's happening through every step of the process
  • Keep your truck, HEPA vacs, air scrubbers and negative air machines clean, stocked and working
  • Take your turn on the on-call rotation for emergency water and mold calls
What you need to bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on asbestos and/or mold remediation experience. We'll ask specific questions about your containments and how your jobs cleared.
  • A Texas TDLR Mold Remediation Worker registration, or the ability to get one quickly
  • A current Texas DSHS Asbestos Abatement Worker license, or the ability to get one quickly (current AHERA worker training plus annual refresher)
  • Working knowledge of the OSHA asbestos standard for construction (29 CFR 1926.1101) and safe work practices for regulated areas
  • Medical clearance to wear a respirator and the ability to pass a fit test
  • The ability to work in full PPE in Texas heat, in attics, crawlspaces and tight spaces, and to lift 75 lbs regularly
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Availability for some nights, weekends and overtime when jobs require it
Big pluses

  • Texas Asbestos Abatement Supervisor license (or AHERA supervisor training)
  • Texas Mold Remediation Contractor license
  • IICRC AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician), WRT, or ASD certifications
  • EPA Lead RRP certification
  • Experience with commercial jobs, occupied buildings, or larger multi-room containments
  • Spanish (helpful on the crew and with customers, but not required)
What you get

  • $20–$32/hour depending on experience and licenses, plus overtime
  • Health and dental insurance
  • We pay for your training and license renewals: asbestos refreshers, IICRC classes, mold CE, and more
  • Room to grow. We promote from within, and if you want to work toward a supervisor or lead role, we'll help you get there.
  • Good equipment. You won't be fighting worn-out machines or making do with not enough poly and filters.
  • A small team where your experience gets noticed and your input is heard
  • More like family than co-workers. We're a family-owned shop, and that's how we run the crew. We look out for each other on the job and off it, we pitch in when someone's having a rough week, and you'll never be just a number on a schedule here.
