
Project Designer
Role summary
Perkins&Will is seeking an experienced Interior Designer with 8-10+ years of Workplace experience to join their team. The role involves executing all aspects of the design process, from schematic design to contract documents, with a focus on optimizing design solutions and adhering to project goals and standards. Responsibilities include evaluating design alternatives, applying knowledge of building technology and codes, preparing client presentations, and coordinating with consultants. Proficiency in BIM, advanced Revit, conceptual modeling tools (Rhino, Grasshopper), visualization software (Enscape, VRay), and presentation tools (InDesign, Photoshop) is required. Candidates must also have or obtain LEED GA within 6 months and a professional accreditation in Living Design. The position offers a hybrid work environment and a comprehensive benefits package.
Common and Baseline Responsibilities
- Understands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
- Prepares schematic designs that optimize design solutions and plans with responsibility for presentation drawings, models, and narratives.
- Understands overall project goals and constraints, including client values, construction and design budget limitations, and schedule requirements.
- Evaluates design alternatives based on site and code requirements.
- Applies knowledge of building technology, building materials, construction methods, costs, and code to the design process.
- Understands and responds to technical implications and design decisions.
- Prepares client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
- Participates in marketing opportunities and develops successful client relationships for continuing business.
- Uses graphic storytelling to advance the project delivery and scope.
- Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Participates and collaborates in internal design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups and external community engagements.
- Demonstrates strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance and design ideas.
- Mentors staff.
- Coordinates effectively with partners and consultants throughout the schematic and design development phases.

Your Role: Interior Designer
Typical Years of Requisite Experience: 8-10+ years of Workplace experience
Common and Baseline Responsibilities
- Understands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in interior design, execution, and living design.
- Develops and coordinates detailed design concepts with ability to develop functional requirements and project-design criteria.
- Demonstrates understanding of and leadership in the architectural design process and integration of standalone interiors projects and design concepts.
- Facilitates interior design efforts and project teams including design direction and client engagement.
- Participates in marketing efforts and may lead design presentations to prospective clients.
- Coordinates integration of basic engineering systems into the overall project design.
- Reviews work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Participates and collaborates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
- Demonstrates strong and effective communication and direction which inspires high team performance and design ideas.
- Mentors staff.

Salary Range Information
