Role summary

Point72's Market Intelligence Team is seeking a 2027 Summer Intern Sector Analyst to support Data Research team members in uncovering company, industry, and economic insights using fundamental research and alternative data. The intern will provide industry context and business fundamentals to data scientists and engineers, supporting the delivery of synthesized insights to investment professionals. Responsibilities include developing sector expertise, distilling complex information, and composing research reports. The 10-week program in New York City offers exposure to developing subject-matter expertise, understanding how data researchers support investment decisions, and collaborating across research teams. The internship emphasizes technical, writing, and presentation skill development.

On our proprietary research team—Market Intelligence—you’ll support Data Research team members as they work with our investment professionals and Compliance team to uncover insights about companies, industries, and the broader economy through deep fundamental research and applying data science and engineering techniques to alternative data sets. About the Sector Analyst Internship

As a sector analyst, you will provide industry context and business fundamentals to our team of data scientists and engineers and support the team that delivers tailored and synthesized insights to our investment professionals.

You should be curious about global industry trends, business models, and supply chains, and enjoy developing deep sector expertise. You should excel at distilling clear takeaways from complex qualitative and quantitative information—including alternative data—and be energized by an experiment-driven research approach, shifting priorities, and close collaboration across investment, research, and compliance teams.

During the 10-week program based in our New York office, you will gain exposure to:

  • Developing subject-matter expertise on an assigned sector related to key themes and KPIs that drive the industries and companies within your sector
  • How data researchers support investment professionals and help inform their investment decisions
  • Composing research reports and synthesizing findings
  • Collaborating with our other proprietary research teams to source and extract the most value out of new and existing data assets

  • Bachelor’s degree expected between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028

    The annual base salary is $100,000 (USD), which will be prorated based on internship start and end date; this does not include overtime compensation. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
