Role summary

Point72 is seeking an IT Operations Engineer specializing in Data Center Technology. This role involves hands-on support for physical data center infrastructure, including racking, stacking, cabling, and replacing enterprise server, storage, and network hardware. Responsibilities include managing power distribution, maintaining accurate asset and configuration records, and coordinating hardware logistics and vendor visits. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in data center or IT operations, with a strong understanding of structured cabling, data center power, and enterprise hardware. Familiarity with Linux/Windows environments and strong troubleshooting skills are essential.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Support hands-on delivery of physical data center infrastructure for technology platforms and systems
  • Rack, stack, and cable enterprise server, storage, and network hardware in data center and colocation facilities
  • Install rail kits, cable managers, patch panels, and fiber enclosures while verifying physical layouts against approved connectivity diagrams
  • Run, terminate, patch, and label copper and fiber cabling, keeping port maps and patch schedules accurate at both ends
  • Manage rack-level power cabling, verify redundant A/B feed separation, and monitor power draw against available capacity
  • Replace failed hardware components, including drives, memory, power supplies, fans, network adapters, host bus adapters, and graphics processing units
  • Execute physical power actions, connect local console equipment, and follow documented sequences for storage and clustered systems
  • Maintain accurate rack elevations, asset records, configuration data, and inventory documentation for audits and reconciliation
  • Coordinate hardware deliveries, vendor field visits, return merchandise authorization processing, decommissioning work, and retained-media handling in restricted data center spaces
  • Support build-outs, migrations, refreshes, disaster recovery testing, environmental response, and continuous improvement of data center standards

    • WHAT’S REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of experience in data center operations, information technology operations, enterprise hardware support, or a related environment
  • Demonstrated experience racking, cabling, and replacing enterprise server, storage, and network hardware in data center or colocation facilities
  • Working knowledge of structured copper and fiber cabling, patch panel discipline, labeling standards, port maps, and cabling diagrams
  • Familiarity with data center power distribution, PDUs, redundant feeds, capacity monitoring, and A/B feed separation
  • Experience maintaining accurate records in a configuration management database, data center infrastructure management system, or asset management tools
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise server and storage hardware, such as Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, including component replacement and health validation
  • Basic familiarity with server environments such as Linux or Windows and clear written communication for ticket updates used by remote engineering teams
  • Strong troubleshooting judgment and independence, with the ability to coordinate vendor field engineers, support off-hours maintenance, and regularly lift and install equipment

    The annual base salary range for this role is $150,000-$225,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
