$22M revenue. Profitable. Bootstrapped. 16 years in market. 20 people doing what competitors need 200 for.
Every AI assistant is trained to close the deal - to be the realtor. We built the home inspector. Product.ai tells you what NOT to buy, and we're the only ones who can.
We are
Product.ai
- the company building the verification layer for AI commerce. You may know us as
Demand.io
, the founder-led team behind SimplyCodes - the leading AI-powered savings tool driving $1B+ in annual commerce. In early 2026, we complete our transformation and formally become Product.ai.
What we're building:
The user experience for a new kind of AI product - one that protects you instead of selling to you. Every AI shopping interface today is designed to say "yes" and close a transaction. We are designing the first consumer experience whose primary value is a confident "No" - telling you what NOT to buy, backed by evidence you can see and verify. This requires rethinking how trust, evidence, and negative recommendations feel to a user who has never encountered an AI that works this way. Nobody has designed this experience. You will.
Why we're different:
Perplexity summarizes the web - including the lies. ChatGPT is trained to be agreeable - it hedges. Google ranks by ads. We pre-verify claims through adversarial pressure testing and deliver the confident "No" that no other AI can. (Read the thesis)
We are seeking a
UX Designer
to own the product experience across Product.ai's consumer surfaces. You will design every screen a user touches - search results, product verdicts, recommendation flows, comparison views - within an established brand system and component library. You are not waiting for a design director to tell you what to make. You design it, prototype it, ship it, and measure whether it worked.
Based in Los Angeles. Hybrid schedule with flexibility. For the right builder, we're open to remote.
What You Will Build
- The Consumer Product Experience:
Own every screen in the Product.ai consumer agent. You decide what users see when they ask "Should I buy this?" and the answer is "No." Verdict interfaces, evidence layouts, comparison flows, recommendation paths. You take strategic direction from the CEO and turn it into shipped product - generating layout options with AI tools, selecting and refining based on taste, getting it into code or implementation-ready specs. Your default mode is shipping, not presenting.
- The SimplyCodes Experience Evolution:
Contribute to UX optimization of SimplyCodes - the $1B+ GMV transaction layer. Merchant landing pages, extension interactions, mobile app flows, and the Wallet experience launching in Q2. You bring product design thinking to surfaces that currently rely on engineering judgment for UX decisions.
- The Design Bridge:
Our brand team owns the visual language. Our design systems engineer owns the component library and token architecture. You compose validated components into product screens that real users interact with - and when components need refinement, you use our token-based design tools to adjust spacing, typography, and styling without touching component code. You turn the design vocabulary into complete sentences users can read.
- The AI-Native Pipeline:
AI generates the first draft - you validate, refine, and ship. You load generated components into token-based design tools, adjust CSS variables, validate against design contracts, and publish to an immutable component library. Every component you validate becomes context for future AI generation - your first month is the hardest; by month three, the system generates most of what you need. You post work-in-progress 2-3x per week for async review - showing decisions, not asking permission. You ship unless stopped.
Who You Are
*We do not care about your pedigree; we care about your mechanics.*
- You have taste that is self-evident in your portfolio.
Within five seconds of looking at your work, anyone can tell you care about craft. Typography, spacing, visual hierarchy, micro-interactions - you get details right because you cannot ship something that feels wrong. Your portfolio shows consumer product screens, not marketing assets, not Dribbble concepts.
- You ship real product, fast.
You have screens live in production right now. You know the compromises required to get from mockup to shipped interface without destroying the design. Brief to shipped improvement in days, not weeks.
- You are obsessed with understanding users.
You talk to users, run usability tests, and watch people interact with your designs. You have discovered something in a user session that contradicted your assumptions, and you changed your design because of it. You bring user evidence into design decisions, not just aesthetic judgment.
- You design with code awareness.
You prototype in HTML, CSS, or React - or you work so closely with component libraries that your designs are implementation-ready without translation. You are comfortable within token-based design systems where styling is governed by variables, not manual pixel adjustments.
- You generate with AI and refine with judgment.
AI tools are your default workflow, not a novelty. You use them for volume - layout variations, component options, interaction concepts - then apply taste, validation, refinement. Every validated component makes the next one faster. You are dramatically more productive than a designer who works manually.
- You thrive without a design director.
You have been the design function - no creative director, no design system team. You made the calls, owned the quality, and shipped.
- You think in product outcomes, not design artifacts.
You measure work in user behavior changes, not Figma files. "Did conversion improve?" before "does this look good?"
- You work in public.
You share work early, openly, and without defensiveness. When someone challenges your design decision, you evaluate the critique on its merits and change direction when the evidence supports it.
Required Experience:
- 2-5 years designing consumer product interfaces that are live in production
- Portfolio that demonstrates craft quality on product screens - not marketing, not concepts
- Working fluency with AI design tools (v0, Claude, Cursor, Figma AI, or equivalent) as a daily production workflow
- Able to prototype in code (HTML/CSS/React) or produce specs that require zero translation for engineers
- Has shipped as the sole or primary designer on a product surface
Strong Signals:
- Has been the "design person" at a startup or small team where you owned everything visual about the product
- Consumer product background (e-commerce, fintech, consumer apps)
- Portfolio includes before/after improvements with measurable outcomes
- User research experience - has run usability tests, interviews, or structured feedback sessions
- Former founder or side-project builder with live products
- Experience validating AI-generated interfaces against real user behavior or accessibility standards
Compensation & Ownership
*We operate as a high-performance studio, not a typical corporation. Because we are profitable with no outside investors, we share the surplus directly with our builders via direct ownership.*
- Base Salary:
$120,000 - $180,000
. Competitive for the role level. Your base covers your life; your ownership builds your freedom.
- Profits Interest Units (PIUs):
You will receive a formal equity stake via
Class B Membership Interests
. Unlike Stock Options, PIUs have a
$0 strike price
, participate in the upside from day one, and qualify for
Capital Gains tax treatment
, maximizing your long-term wealth. At most companies, a designer at your level gets stock options with a strike price and an exercise gamble. Here, you get real ownership in a profitable company with no dilution risk.
- Ongoing Profit Distribution:
As an equity holder, you participate in our annual success. You are entitled to a pro-rata share of our
Free Cash Flow (FCF)
- receiving your portion of the company's profit as an annual dividend.
- Annual Liquidity:
We do not believe in "Paper Wealth." We operate an
Annual Tender Offer
where the company buys back vested interests. You have the option to turn your ownership into cash every year - you don't have to wait for an exit.
- Benefits:
100% premium coverage for you and your family, daily catered lunches, and unlimited PTO that we actually expect you to use to recharge.
How to Apply
*We skip the 60-minute recruiter screen. Instead, you'll answer a few short video questions so we can get to know how you think and work. Less time than a phone screen, and you can do it whenever works for you.*
The Process:
- Click Apply.
- Record short video responses to our questions (no prep required - we want to see how you naturally think).
- Your responses go directly to the hiring team. No ATS. No keyword parsing.
We're not looking for polished presentations. We're looking for signal on who you are.
