Purpose of the Position
Leading a team of engineers and technicians to optimize production processes, improve product quality, and ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role involves daily interfacing with customers, managing team resources and allocation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, resolve technical challenges (including MIL management, Yield reporting, and RCA/FACA), and align manufacturing strategies with organizational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Interfacing & Issue Management (MIL & Yield)
● Daily Customer Interfacing: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for daily customer communications, status updates, build reviews, and issue escalations.
● MIL (Master Issue List) Management: Own, maintain, and drive the Master Issue List (MIL) across development and production phases, ensuring timely updates, clear ownership, and closure of all open items.
● Yield Reporting & Analysis: Manage daily/weekly yield reporting, analyze yield loss pareto charts, and coordinate cross-functional efforts to meet target yield rates.
Quality Assurance, Problem Solving & RCA/FACA
● Problem Solving & RCA/FACA: Lead structured problem-solving initiatives, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Failure Analysis / Corrective Action (FACA) processes (e.g., 8D methodology) for production defects and build issues, driving timely containment and long-term corrective actions.
● Customer Feedback: Address customer feedback/pass-down items and coordinate recalls or continuous quality improvements as needed.
Team Resource & Allocation Management
● Managing Team Resource & Allocation: Manage engineering and technician team resources, workload distribution, shift coverage, and task prioritization across projects and production lines to maximize team efficiency.
● Resource & Cost Control: Allocate resources (human, material, equipment) to meet budget and deadlines; monitor project costs (IDL/DL labor, materials, equipment) to prevent overspending.
● Data-Driven Decisions: Provide data-driven insights (ROI, cost-benefit analysis) to support technical and resource allocation decisions.
Project Planning & Execution
● Define requirements, technical specs, deliverables, and timelines via cross-functional collaboration.
● Build schedules using Gantt charts/Critical Path Method (CPM) and track milestones.
● Identify risks (technical, production, supply chain) and develop mitigation strategies.
Technical Integration & Process Optimization
● Cross-functional Collaboration: Translate technical specs into production workflows; resolve production issues (process parameters, equipment calibration).
● Process Optimization: Analyze production bottlenecks and propose improvements (e.g., automation, process reengineering).
● Lean/Six Sigma: Implement Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects and costs.
● Documentation & Training: Maintain technical documents (specs, SOPs, ECNs) and share knowledge via training.
PRQ/CR Schedule, Report, and Execution in MP Phase
NPI (New Product Introduction) Preparation
● Process Readiness: Ensure full operational and equipment readiness, evaluating line capabilities, tooling, and workflow setup prior to product bring-up.
● Documentation Management: Author, review, and maintain standardized manufacturing instructions, process flow diagrams, control plans, and technical specification packages.
● Training Execution: Coordinate and lead comprehensive training programs for engineering technicians and production staff to guarantee seamless process adoption and repeatability.
● XVT issue list and improvement tracking.
● Assembly & Packing tooling list review.
● Layout / process / HC (Headcount) review and team resource allocation.
● Line readiness and Audit.
● UPH bring-up plan.
● Coordinate and solve build issues.
● Manage and publish Yield reports and MIL (Master Issue List) reports.
● Lead RCA/FACA coordination, tracking, and driving to closure.
Project Closure & Innovation
● Project Closure: Coordinate final lessons learned, client acceptance, and handover; compile post-project reviews to document successes/failures and suggest process improvements (summary wish list).
● Innovation & Partnerships: Evaluate new technologies (equipment/materials/processes) for feasibility and impact; collaborate with F1 partners (TPM / Ops / NPO / AME) for R&D and innovation.
