Role summary

QuEra Computing is seeking a Director of Quantum Solutions to lead strategic collaborations and develop quantum solutions for high-value problems. This role bridges cutting-edge quantum technology with customer outcomes, working with QEC researchers, software engineers, and scientists. Responsibilities include building and leading a global Quantum Solutions team, managing customer projects, defining engagement models, and influencing product roadmaps. The ideal candidate has recognized leadership in quantum computing R&D with 8+ years of experience, a proven track record in team leadership and cross-functional collaborations, and a strong background in quantum algorithms and hardware benchmarking. Exceptional communication and technical leadership skills are essential.

Summary

QuEra Computing is seeking an established scientific and industry leader to serve as Director of Quantum Solutions. In this role, you will lead strategic collaborations with customers and partners worldwide to develop quantum solutions that address concrete, high‑value problems.You’ll help turn cutting-edge quantum technology into customer outcomes across both on‑premises deployments and cloud access. Working closely with quantum error‑correction (QEC) researchers, software engineers, quantum application scientists, and experimentalists, you’ll maximize the practical utility of QuEra’s systems on the path to fault tolerant quantum computing.

You will own the bridge between QuEra’s neutral‑atom hardware and real customer outcomes by turn cutting‑edge science into quantum solutions that matter.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing, global Quantum Solutions team, including hiring, onboarding, career progression, and performance management.
  • Scope, execute, and deliver collaborative projects with customers and partners with technical solution leadership, from high-impact hardware demonstrations to practically useful quantum applications grounded in real use cases.
  • Define engagement classes (from newcomers to co-design partners), IP boundaries, and commercial framing for the customer engagement model.
  • Work with leadership, commercial teams, and cloud or commercial partners on go-to-market strategy, delivery channels, co-marketing, and long-term alliances.
  • Maintain enough depth in quantum algorithms, hardware, AI / developer tooling, and application work to weigh in on feasibility, technical trade-offs, and prioritization for major engagements.
  • Represent QuEra externally on commercial and organizational matters such as investors, industry partners, and executive-level customer conversations.
  • Feed field learnings such as customer needs, technical gaps, and validated use cases into the education and software teams’ roadmaps, content, and community programs.
  • Define and track success metrics (engagement conversion to machine access, publishable results, time-to-value) and use them to iterate the engagement model and roadmap.

    • Qualifications

  • Recognized leadership in quantum computing R&D, evidenced by a strong publication and/or open-source track record.
  • 8+ years of experience in quantum computing, with substantial industry or applied research experience.
  • Proven track record leading and managing technical teams and orchestrating large, cross-functional collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong background in quantum algorithms and application-level benchmarking for quantum hardware (e.g., neutral atom, trapped-ion, superconducting, or photonic platforms).
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills; comfortable engaging with both executives and deep technical audiences.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Depth in quantum algorithms and applications, quantum error correction, and quantum software and tooling.
  • Experience mapping algorithms and QEC protocols to hardware implementations and collaborating closely with experimental teams.
  • Familiarity with production-grade software practices and lifecycle management.
  • Experience in turning R&D results into concrete technical requirements for product development.
  • Demonstrated passion for education, outreach, and community building (talks, blog posts, tutorials, workshops, or course design).
  • Proven experience leading distributed, global teams across time zones and cultures.

    • The approximate base salary range for this position is $190,000-$300,000

    We consistently monitor external market data and update base salary ranges accordingly. We determine base compensation decisions on several factors, including as geographic placement, role-specific knowledge, skills, and/or experience. In addition to our base salary offerings, we also provide equity grants for all new hires.
